Know the basics but still want support at the table? Guided Play is for you.

Guided Play is designed for players who have taken Mahjong 101 (or understand the fundamentals) and are ready to build confidence through real game experience, with a little coaching along the way.

This is not a full teaching class, but it’s also not completely on your own.

During Guided Play, we:

Help you read the card more efficiently
Talk through hand selection and strategy
Guide you through the Charleston
Answer questions as they come up
Keep the game flowing and approachable
You’ll play full hands while gaining practical, in-the-moment feedback that helps everything click.
We intentionally keep tables balanced, so newer players feel supported while continuing to grow their confidence.
Guided Play is the perfect next step before joining Open Play or League.

Beginner Lesson- Pierpont General Store

New to Mahjong? You’re in the right place.

Our Beginner Lesson is a structured, hands-on introduction to American Mahjong designed to make learning simple, clear, and fun. Whether you’ve never touched a tile or have watched from the sidelines, this class will give you the confidence to sit down and play.

In this 90-minute session, you’ll learn:
The basics of the Mahjong card
Tile identification and setup
Charleston and passing
How to read hands
Game flow and strategy fundamentals
How to call tiles and declare Mahjong
We intentionally keep classes small (8 players per teacher) so everyone receives personal guidance and the opportunity to play at least one full hand.
You’ll leave understanding how the game works.

Had a great night learning how to play. Lauren was an amazing instructor. I highly recommend this before playing! I made the mistake of trying to play before I took a lesson..didn't go well for the table..
